Pioneer robotic cells in Spain

Grupo Lucas has entrusted Geysen Robotics with the design and implementation of a robotised depalletizing system that is a milestone in this type of installation.

Grupo Lucas is a company characterized by a strong commitment to society and the environment since 1970. It specializes in marketing of vegetables, such as lettuce, cauliflower, escarole, broccoli, etc. It is currently one of the main national distributors of this type of products.

The company's expansion policy was limited by the very characteristics of the product it commercialised. The delicacy of vegetables and the type of packaging used did not facilitate the mechanization and automation of processes. As a result, its production flow was slow.

Polystyrene trays are fragile and require careful handling because they break easily. Can a robot weighing several tonnes work gently enough not to fracture the containers or damage the product? The answer is yes, as long as a controlled pressure sealing system is applied.

It was not easy, there was no precedent and Geysen Robotics came up with a customized engineering project that included adaptive grippers on the robot head, with a unique quality: they could control the pressure of the closure and manipulate the mosaics safely without damaging the container.

Grupo Lucas, which has always been committed to innovation, decided to assign the project to Geysen Robotics and the project is currently at an advanced stage of implementation, in which the manufacture, installation and commissioning of the four robotic cells will soon be completed.

To Geysen Robotics, it is not only an important project, but it has also been an inspirational source for the development of systems of a high level of technological sophistication.
